After reading these posts, I'm a little surprised that the turbine in Toronto is located where it is.

It's close to the Gardner Expressway, not far from Exhibition Stadium if I remember correctly.

Not sure if there are any widely used in the Texas area, but they are certainly there.

When I would drive through Western Texas the area was dotted with them, but they looked as if they were owned privately.

I wonder if it makes even more sense to locate wind turbines near oil rigs, where the land may be otherwise unsuitable for development?

I don't know about other places but I know that here in Canada, we have a bunch of turbines out on the prairies that get quite alot of wind and there is alot of unused land.

I guess it really depends on your location to be able to use wind.
