I just read an article about the Galapagos Island improving its impact on the environment through greener energy generators, what a great step in working towards a greener environment

"The wildlife-rich Galapagos island chain in the Pacific Ocean is now harnessing commercial-scale wind energy as part of a wind-diesel hybrid electricity plant. The project, Ecuador's first wind power plant, was six years in planning, with habitat protection a crucial element for its developers. The wind turbines will reduce the island's reliance on imported diesel oil and the risks to the fragile ecology of oil spills."

So glad to hear this, Now if only they could do something about the other problems they are facing right now.

It saddens me to see how bad the islands have become in the last twenty years.

Yes its great to see that the Galapagos has taken steps in using natural wind power to solve environmental issues. After the oil spill of 2001 and the constant reduction of natural habitat in the area. With the increasingly demanding population growth in the area, its great to see they can find a way to sustain the demanding needs of the people.

It sounds like this could be a great model for other parts of the world that would greatly benefit from harnessing wind power.
