I don't know what it's like for people in America, but in Australia our government decided to 'reward' people for going green with construction.
Any 'green' inclusion put into a house - either during construction or just adding to an existing house - is rewarded with cash rebates.
I think this is a great idea as it encourages more and more people to think about environmentally-friendly additions and inclusions into the house.
